Just One Color for Life

Quarantine has me thinking a lot about how important fashion is to my daily life and how certain colors set the tone for my entire day. Researchers have long known that color can dramatically affect moods, feelings, and emotions. So, what if you had to pick just one color that you wore for the rest of your life? What would that color be and why? For me, it would undoubtedly be pink because the full spectrum—from blush pink to bright fuscia—makes me feel happy and energized.

Now I realize that pink may not be your “go to” color and that is okay! Psychologists say that our feelings about color are deeply personal and rooted in our own experiences and cultures. So, what is that one color that brings YOU joy and happiness? Maybe it is a cool color that makes you feel calm and relaxed? Maybe it is a warm color that makes you feel energized and alive? No matter what, I bet that the color that you gravitate towards stimulates your mind while also making you feel safe and secure.

Pink has long been a favorite color of mine. Maybe it was a color that I was exposed to at an early age, or maybe it was an “anthem” color because I had two brothers? I have long had pink clothes, pink bedrooms, and I even had a pink wedding. For me, pink evokes certain calming emotions, but I probably also use it to convey information. Pink represents all the characteristics that I want to be—soft and feminine, while also being strong and resilient. Go pink!

If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life, what would it be? I can’t wait to hear!
